Website Ideas

I have a few ideas that I want to try for this project. One solution was having making people more aware of family farms and why they are dying due to the factory farms. To go about this I would make posters or postcards and pass them out to make the public aware that supporting family farms is a good thing because soon factory farms will be taking over the farming business. Another solution would be supporting free range farms. I find eating free range meat is a lot healthier because they feed the animals vegetarian feed and don’t inject them with hormones. I will also base this off a poster or a post card too.

Since both ideas would use the same mediums to increase awareness, I guess it is up to you which path to take. Would you want to consider doing something other than posters or post cards? Is there a way that the person visiting the site would interact with it- discussion boards, buy posters, etc.?

These are well ideas. I like the one about supporting family farms because not a lot of people are aware of this issue as much as they may be about the free range issue. It would be nice if you did shed some light on these local farmers so atleast people would know who they were in this area.
I think both of your ideas would be great to work with, and I wonder if there is a way to combine them together. I find that these are causes that are often overlooked or not as well known, so it may be beneficial to lay down some facts to better inform people. I grew up in a farming community and saw multiple farms turned into factory farms and the effect of these goes beyond just the farm itself; it affects the community and the generations that had farmed and worked hard for so many years. Maybe you could elaborate upon all that is affected by factory farms? As for your site, the posters and postcards would work well, but I agree with Colleen on the interactive aspect. I liked her discussion board idea because I think there are a lot personal experiences with this to be told. Additionally, there are some good design possibilities using farm imagery.
